MARCH 2016: Prison 101 with Sue Ellen Allen

Sue Ellen Allen is an author, speaker, and passionate activist with a fascinating past and a compelling present. Upon her release from prison, she co-founded GINA's Team, a non-profit organization that brings educational programs into prisons and juvenile facilities to inspire the inmate population to strive for a better future and a successful reentry. Recently Sue Ellen was invited to be a guest of First Lady Michelle Obama in her box at the State of the Union address as a representative of criminal justice reform. Her memoir about prison life, The Slumber Party from Hell, is a leader in sparking the conversation about the cost American faces as the world’s ‘Incarceration Nation’ both in tax dollars and in human lives.

We look forward to hosting Sue Ellen Allen for our March Assembly! She will be sharing many key insights regarding our need for prison reform in the US and what needs to change in order for us to have a healthy justice system.
