New Year's Manifesto 2016

Happy New Year! Who are you going to be in 2016?

Of course, we can’t predict everything, but we can cast a vision for our lives. We can proclaim our intentions, we can establish a road map, we can set resolutions.

We want to hear from our community about their 2016. We are asking you to prepare a brief statement, no more than 5 minutes, about what you want your life to look like in 2016. This can be lighthearted or it can be serious. It’s up to you. If you don’t feel like sharing with the group, we still ask that you prepare a 1-page document to be placed in our time capsule. We have such a tremendous diversity within our community, and we’re excited to hear from our members about their hopes and aspirations! Last year we had such a wonderful experience hearing from so many folks, it was such a great way to start off the New Year.

Some questions to consider:

What went wrong in 2015? What went right?
Am I living the way I’d like to live?
What do I want to change? What do I want to hold on to?
What do I hope to learn? What do I need to forget?

As Mike, one of our core community members, mentioned last assembly, everyone needs a tribe to belong to. Sunday Assembly is trying to become one such tribe. Our struggle is that we come from such diverse backgrounds and we have no common belief system to adhere to. Thus, we have to find other ways of connecting. The New Year's Manifesto is a great way to hear from many of us about who we are and who we want to become.

Looking forward to seeing you!
